WHAT IS REMOTE MONITORING

"Remote Monitoring" is a new approach to resolving computer issues. Basically this is a service whereby we monitor a person's computer 24x7 remotely using the Internet. It is a proactive approach to resolving computer issues before they become costly.

Listed below are the items that are covered under our "Remote Monitoring" package.

CHECKS

• Disk Space: Alerted if free space drops below 25% (Run once every 60 minutes)
• Antivirus Update Check: This monitors your anti-virus pattern to ensure that is in sync with the vendor's latest published version. (Run once a day at 6:00 a.m.)
• Drive Space Change Check: Checks if your hard drive space has grown by more than 25% in the past 24 hours. (Run once a day at 6:00 a.m.)
• Hacker Check: Determines if hackers are attacking the system. (Run once a day at 6:00 a.m.)
• Physical Disk Health Check: Determines if any SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) hard drives are reporting errors which typically indicates a hard drive that is failing. (Run once a day at 6:00 a.m.)
• OPTIONAL CHECKS THAT CAN BE DONE
  • Event Logs: Monitor for specific events including backup failures.
  • File Size Check: Checks if files and folders exceed a predetermined size.
  • Windows Service Check: Automatically restart essential Windows services.

AUTOMATED TASKS

• Clean Temp Files (Daily): Removes the following files and logs: User temp files, cookies, recent history, IE history, IE temp files, java cache, flash cache, system temp files, system log files and system IIS log files. (Run once a day at 8:00 a.m.)
• Clear Event Logs (Weekly): Deletes all entries in the selected Windows Event Logs to remove obsolete log entries and prevent slow writing to and reading from the event logs. (Run once a week on Monday at 12:00 a.m. or when the computer is first powered up if off at 12:00 a.m.)
• Defragment Hard Drive (Weekly): uses the Operating System’s disk defragmentation utility to defragment the selected drive to maximise disk space and prevent degradation in system performance. (Run once a week on Wednesday at 12:00 a.m. or when the computer is first powered up if off at 12:00 a.m.)
• Malwarebytes Scan (Daily): Updates, scans & cleans your system of any malware infections. This option includes a fully licensed and registered copy of Malwarebytes. NOTE: This will not take care of every single infection as the scans are performed on a daily basis. This does, however, include an active process monitoring agent that will reduce your chances of infection significantly. (Run once a day at 12:00 p.m.)

PATCH MANAGEMENT & VULNERABILITY CHECK

• This can be turned on for all or specific computers.
• Patch Management allows up to remotely identify, and install critical Windows Updates on your system. (Run once a week on Tuesday at 1:00 a.m.)
• Vulnerability Checks are based on OVAL and SANS top 20 vulnerabilities such as Adobe, Java, Firefox etc. Once identified, updates to resolve the vulnerabilities can be remotely installed.

TAKE CONTROL / REMOTE SUPPORT

This allows us to remotely take control of any workstation that has internet access using a fully licensed TeamViewer application. The options of this program allow us to specify computers that require user validation before taking control. Alternatively, we are able to take control without user interaction. We are able to mix and match all options for each workstation i.e. If we should never take control of a managers workstation, that specific computer can be disabled from TeamViewer. When “take Control” is enabled on a specific computer, you will see a TeamView icon next to the time at the bottom right of your screen. This option does not “Have” to be enabled so if you are concerned about privacy, this will not be installed.

ASSET TRACKING

Assets are the most critical element of any business, and with the addition of Asset Tracking we can provides an inventory of your Windows based devices. Reports can be generated based on the Asset Tracking information. There is the option to create Modification Reports, Software License Report, Client Inventory Report as well as download all of the Asset Tracking details as an XML & SQL Data Dumps. Software Licence Groups can be created to identify where you have exceeded your product licences or create a Banned Software Group where any occurrence of the product is recorded as a failure. An example of banned software would be downloading software such as bittorrent, utorrent etc. Customisable information fields of your own can be configured and used to record information such as the care pack numbers, contract renewal and warranty expiry dates, making your asset administration easier. Asset Tracking can also be used to identify where a change to your system has caused an issue. For example where incompatible software is added or required software is removed.

REPORTS

On a weekly basis you will be emailed a report detailing all the checks that were performed in the past week. At your request, we can also email you a patch overview report i.e. you will be able to see all the updates and patches that have been remotely installed on your computer.

COSTS

We have 3 levels of "Remote Monitoring" - Bronze, Silver and Gold. All three levels include everything as listed:

1. BRONZE
• Only for business clients that have servers covered under our "Monthly Server Monitoring" package.
• Includes all of the items above for a low monthly fee of $5.00 per computer.
• Includes a registered version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Pro.
• Only requirement is to agree to at least a 3 month monitoring agreement to cover the costs of MalwareBytes Pro. The monitoring may be cancelled at any time after that.
2. SILVER
• Includes all of the items above for a low monthly fee of $10.00 per computer.
• Includes a registered version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Home.
• Only requirement is to pre-pay a 3 month monitoring agreement to cover the costs of MalwareBytes Pro. The monitoring may be cancelled at any time after that.
3. GOLD
   • Includes all of the items above for a low yearly fee of $150.00 per computer.
   • Includes a registered version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Home.
   • Includes a registered version of AVG Internet Security Suite (The latest version).
   • This is a 12 month agreement payable in advance to cover the costs of AVG and Malwarebytes.
